I recently completed an 8-week internship with the Air Force Research Lab in Rome, New York, where I gained hands-on experience in various aspects of cyber research and defense. As part of a dedicated team, I contributed to several significant projects, including the development of Cyber Blue Books, IEEE papers, and Electronic Flight Bag research, with a specific focus on a Cyber Blue Book on NIPRGPT.Throughout the internship, I participated in bi-weekly lectures every Monday and Friday, which covered diverse opportunities in cyber defense within the Department of Defense (DoD). These sessions included elevator pitch presentations on Mondays, enhancing my communication skills. Midway through the program, we visited West Point to broaden our understanding of military cyber operations.The culmination of the internship was a Hack the Box-style capstone project, where we applied our acquired skills to neutralize a designated target. Additionally, we had a career day at the end of the program, where we presented our research findings to DoD members, showcasing our contributions and insights gained during the internship.This experience has provided me with a solid foundation in cyber defense research, practical problem-solving skills, and valuable exposure to the opportunities within the DoD.
