Enthusiastic Engineering Technician. I have recently completed an Engineering Management Apprenticeship and currently managing Engineering activities in a Project Delivery Team located at MOD Defence, Equipment and Support (DE&S). I work well as part of a cross-functional team as part of the wider business. I also work with external stakeholders such as OEMs and the end-user, showing a clear understanding of stakeholder management.From the outset of my Engineering Apprenticeship, I have been extremely keen to further my understanding of DE&S people, processes, services and systems. I have undertaken a wide range of tasks throughout my placements, embracing each one in a positive manner and working across functions to ensure the outputs were delivered.

Working at the Compton Inn, a pub/restaurant located in the rural village of Compton Dando, situated about four miles outside Keynsham. I have been working here for almost five years for 24-32 hours a week. I was initially employed as a Kitchen Porter - the work included food preparation, washing dishes and kitchen equipment, organising the cellar and cleaning beer lines. After a year as KP, I started bar work, along with the occasional shift in the kitchen. As I became more experienced, my boss gave me the further responsibilities like cashing up, lone working, closing up and security. I have learned about logistics, planning and dealing with suppliers while helping organise and procure supplies for large functions such as the Compton firework night and the village fete day. Although I have become proficient in my current job, I find that the work does not provide sufficient challenges to maintain my interest. I am keen to build on my studies to develop a more technical career in the field of engineering with hands-on tasks in a manufacturing environment.

For my first part time job in December 2007, I worked at Iceland stores for 6 weeks doing various jobs from stacking shelves to helping with home deliveries. My responsibilities included sorting home deliveries and loading up the delivery van, taking deliveries from the van to customers’ doors, working on the tills and stacking shelves. It was a unique experience for me as it was the first time I had been in a real working environment and where others treated me as a colleague rather than a student.
