Learning that hard work is the way to success at the Downingtown STEM Academy in high school gave me an early exposure to a work ethic that was unknown to many peers. In addition, I learned soft skills through countless group projects. For a job, I worked at Marsh Creek Lake where I learned how to work with a large team and evolved into a leader of my co-workers. Adapting communication and collaboration skills necessary to be a leader, which allowed me to gain responsibilities over the four years I was employed there. I was able to have a lot of exposure to engineering before college which solidified my choice to pursue it in college. After attending Rowan University for a year I learned that it was not the environment for me, as being close to home did not allow me to grow as much as I had hoped. By transferring to Arizona State University and cutting the safety net I have been able to strive toward my goals and begin to create the person I want to be. The struggles I faced in the first year of college allowed me to grow and learn about myself. I now have a life oriented around self-improvement and a new love for struggling as it has created who I am today.
