I work on a team of 4 engineers to develop open-source software that allows individuals to upload copyrighted footage and edit it legally by overlaying edits such as blurs, skips, mutes, subtitles, etc over the original footage and then share it with others. The original intent was for educators to be able to share with students.

I competed at the BYU hackathon and got accepted into the Sandbox program. Out of the people accepted to the Sandbox program, I was selected as one of 14 to be a part of the Levinthal Fellows. This is an experience where we meet with an executive every week and have a fireside chat with them and talk about their story and industry.

- Led a team of 12 student volunteers in planning and executing 3 major events with a combined attendance of over 5000 students- Managed a budget of over $14,000

- Redesigned the existing MySQL table responsible for storing the personalization history of BYUtv users into two tables with a many-to-one relationship via MySQL migrations and Knexjs increasing possible data collection per user session to increase by a minimum of 50% while decreasing duplicated data storage by 83%- Refactored the internal microservice responsible for processing and uploading user data to the public and admin endpoints leading to a decrease in code duplication for this process by 30% and reduced API calls to this microservice by 50%- Automated the process of providing the Business Intelligence team with user data through an AWS workflow utilizing SNS topics, SQS FIFO-queues, Lambda functions, S3 buckets, and Redshift data warehousing leading to a change in incorporating new user data in user content recommendations from once a week to a live updates- Integrated CI/CD capabilities to 23 BYUB services and libraries by writing custom BitBucket Pipeline YAML files that automated Major and Minor code patch deployments and transitioned all internal BYUB repositories to AWS CodeArtifact increasing both development efficiency and permitting the software department to transition from using NPM v6 to NPM v8

- Utilized interactive and engaging methods to make complex concepts accessible for young learners- Led coding workshops for students aged 8-14, covering topics such as algorithms, problem-solving, and basic programming languages such as Scratch and Python- Successfully helped students create their own interactive games and projects, fostering a love for technology and encouraging continued learning

In charge of recruitment for the university’s student association which is responsible for planning student enrichment activities for the 30,000+ students at the university.

Elected by the general student body of the school. Oversaw over 20 other elected student body representatives in the planning of school activities and fundraisers.

Elected as the lead representative for my grade sophomore and junior year. During those years I lead a team of five other representatives in the planning, organizing, and running school activities and fundraisers.
