As the Youth Support Programs Manager at Nuçi’s Space, I have been accountable for all aspects of the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of our programs for creative young people. This work is incredibly enriching as it provides an opportunity for young people to safely step out of their comfort zone while learning communication, coping, and mental health awareness skills within a rock band setting. While it hasn't been without it's challenges, I feel I've accomplished quite a lot in a short amount of time.I expanded the capacity of the programs to offer 11 individual sessions of 6 different programs tailored to different age groups and experience levels. These programs currently serve over 180 students per year which requires me to manage a team of over 20 contractors and full time staff. I fostered a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Athens and we now hold one of our programs at various sites around the community. I applied my skills in creative community development to successfully engage with our community of over 300 parents, students and teachers. I implemented sound data collection and reporting practice through use of CRM platforms Little Green Light and Salesforce.In addition to maintaining the excellence of the programs I've undertaken interdepartmental projects including: Conducting research and generating a report and year-long action plan outlining how the organization can better serve and reach marginalized communities. Undertaking a fiscal audit and subsequent grant acquisition resulting in over receiving $30,000 in funding for the program. Planning and executing organization-wide fundraising events. Alex’s varied musical interests inform the diversity of the music he performs. He regularly plays in a variety of bands as both a sideman and band leader. In his commercial jazz group, Garden Party, Dillon et al. take a fun and creative approach to playing jazz standards for private events. He is a member of an Americana-focused jazz trio called The Stillpoint which books at breweries around the Northeast. Also well versed in traditional hard bop, Alex also holds down the drum throne as the house drummer at the weekly jam session at The Virtuosity Music Store in downtown Boston. Additionally, he plays regularly with the Lucas Philips Quintet at Wally’s Cafe Jazz Club. He writes and arranges for a more experimental group called AHA comprised of two guitarists and himself on drums and percussion.As a teaching artist, Alex puts a strong emphasis on helping musicians, both young and older, realize their full potential. Musical mentorship has been integral to his upbringing so he strives to set a good example for his students; as a teaching artist, 80% of what he teaches is who he is. While he emphasizes a methodical approach to developing proper technique on the drums he is also incredibly flexible and works with his students depending on their interests. He is results driven and will tweak lessons based on what works for the individual student. Alex was a clinician at the 2019 Annual Jazz Educators’ Network conference where he presented alongside Eric Hofbauer, the Chair of the JCM Department, techniques and ideas for using odd-meters and poly-pulse to create on the spot arrangements of jazz standards. Alex has studied with Neal Smith, Bob Gulotti, Dave Zygmunt, John Piefer and Greg Strohman. He holds a BA in East Asian Studies from Dickinson College and an MM in Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance from the Longy School of Music.

I'm currently teaching beginner and intermediate piano, guitar, and drum lessons in a community focused setting. I'm developing lesson plans and assignment for my students with the end goal being performing in a capstone recital.

Part-Time member of the teaching artist staff at HEARTMusic. I model the behaviors and values of a professional musician to under-served students while also providing hands-on music instruction in the classroom. I take pride in this important work as it supports local public school music programs and increases the students’ chances for success in life. I strive to foster a positive, productive sense of togetherness among the people in our community through artistic collaboration. Additionally, I have assisted as the Auction Coordinator for the annual Fundraising Gala. I reached out to local businesses and donors, educated them on the mission of heart music, and then received and organized donations. Helped ensure the auction ran smoothly by making auction paddles and collating the items in excel.

In this role I assisted in daily administrative responsibilities on behalf of the Jazz and Contemporary Music Department and the Longy School of Music. I worked on various larger projects alongside department chairs and deans including scheduling, hiring, and recruitment. I produced a department residency at The Lilypad Inman in Cambridge Massachusetts meant to serve and a showcase for our diverse department. I generated programming for 12 JCM Chamber Ensemble concerts. I facilitated effective rehearsals by booking rooms, printing out materials, moving equipment and taking care of logistical details. I communicated with students and the school community by ways of social media, email lists and print media. I designed flyers and posters for department announcements and events. I communicated within school offices to ensure logistics as it pertains to our department. Additionally I participated as a presenting clinician at the 2019 Jazz Educators Network conference

At SOS I generated engaging blog content that aimed to illustrate how music is an art form that provides commentary on current issues. I took initiative in selecting songs I deemed prescient and analyzed lyrics looking for deeper meaning. I would then research various Humanitarian, Non-Profit, NGO, Charitable Work, Think Tank, News, and other organizations that would addressed the issues in raised in the songs. I would generate engaging content with the aim to direct our readers to pursue those resources and make an active change in society. I would draft an article and then work with an editor to revise and streamline my piece. I would promote the platform and my pieces using Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, etc).

Composed posts for the WDCV blog via WordPress. Generated reviews of the station’s featured artists and their new releases. Conducted and transcribed interviews with artists.Created engaging video content such as a tour of the station. Helped to maintain the station’s social media by promoting the station and posts via Facebook and Twitter. Monitored various site metrics including traffic from various sources and moderated comments on posts.

Created and designed a music blog based around my radio show. Developed a variety of content that ranges from recaps of shows, album reviews, interviews, and video content.

Conducted interviews with potential College applicants in a formal admissions setting in effort to gain a better understanding of the various passions, commitments, skills, and academic capabilities of the students. Assessed the students’ relative “fit” for Dickinson College documented my thoughts through notes. Developed a formal assessment on the students based upon our interview and authored a write up conveying my thoughts. Passed my assessment along to the admissions counselors who would take it into consideration as part of the application process.

Acted as a representative of the college on a daily basis. Interacted with admissions counselors in a professional environment. Took on data handling and administrative projects with my peers in order to make the office run more efficiently. Received calls made to the college and communicated with parents, alumni and students. Gave campus tours to groups of parents and prospective students. Helped to coordinate weekly open house events by giving tours and participating in student group seminars.

As Co-President of this group it was my responsibility to take care of a majority of the logistical details. Organized and scheduled weekly rehearsals among a 9 member strong group. Effectively Communicated with event staff at Dickinson to reserve times and locations for our monthly shows. Designed posters in Photo Shop and communicated with the Dickinson College print center to get the posters printed. Helped to lead productive and time efficient rehearsals.

Perform a wide variety of mostly woodworking tasks that build the aesthetic of the show on the stage. Work with power tools of all varieties. Know the required safety precautions that need to be taken when working with heavy machinery and power tools.

Assisted the account managers with various day to day tasks in order to benefit the Emerging Brand media clients and keep their advertising campaigns running smoothly. Pulled reports pertaining to campaign metrics (CTR, CPA, CPC, PPV) synthesizing the data into spreadsheets and also occasionally providing a brief analysis of potential areas for campaign optimization. Set up advertising campaigns on the behalf of clients by whitelisting or targeting certain sites, platforms, DMAs, types of publishers, or operating systems. Created mock-ups of advertiser content in Taboola Widgets running on publishers in the Taboola Network, which then got screenshot and sent over to the clients for review. Assisted in approving and rejecting campaign content as they either did or did not adhere to Taboola’s best practices and policies. Managed the client’s creative content on Taboola’s network, occasionally updating it on their behalf or changing it entirely. Reviewed content provided by the advertising clients and drafted multiple attention-grabbing headlines to be implemented on the Taboola network. Worked heavily in Taboola’s proprietary campaign management and performance review software, Backstage, on a daily basis. Attended the week-long seminar program known as Taboola U, learning about the operations, products and goals of Taboola while also being educated on the workings of the ad tech industry as a whole and where a discovery platform like Taboola comes into play.

Performed day to day duties in the Dickinson College Radio Station. Helped to reorganize and digitize the music library. Digitized syndicated shows for future play. Helped to sort digitized music to make sure that what we played complied with FCC regulations. Installed and learned how to use the radio DJ software MegaSeg. Came up with new training methods to instruct the next year’s DJs on how to use the new software. Conducted a phone interview with an award winning novelist and Dickinson Graduate. Helped to plan and program what pre-recorded shows go on the air. Kept the daily transmitter and weather advisory system logs up to date. Checked the Radio station mail and reviewed CDs sent by labels for admission into the featured artists section of the programming. Edited recordings of live shows using the digital audio editing suite Sound Forge. Wrote reviews of featured artists’ CDs. Filmed, edited and uploaded a series of fun training videos to be used as a quick reference for new and returning DJs.
