About Alexander Dmitrenko

I lead Ashurst dispute resolution and compliance team in Japan. As a member of Ashurst Global Investigations, Sanctions and Sustainability Teams, we support clients on investigations, strategic advisory, ADR, sanctions, export controls, anti-bribery, anti-money laundering, human rights, cyber security, product liability and other regulatory matters. During my nearly two decade-long career in New York and Tokyo, I represented clients in internal and regulatory compliance investigations (particularly before the US authorities), assisted in establishing and enhancing global and domestic compliance programs, provided advisory services on complicated regulatory issues (such as US-China trade war), and conducted transactional due diligence in many jurisdictions and industries. I am a NY attorney and a solicitor of England & Wales. I am also registered as a Japanese Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi (as a NY lawyer). As a strong believer in "giving back" and pro bono work, I co-founded and co-chair LLAN (Lawyer for LGBT & Allies Network) and serve on the board of TELL (Tokyo English Language Lifeline). I am also the Chair of the Japan Committee of the Temple Law School Compliance Advisory Board and teach International Compliance at Temple Law School (Japan Campus). My hobby is learning languages - spending an hour a day on making my Japanese a tad more proficient. I am a fan of the Japanese culture and cuisine and am proud to serve as an honorary Ambassador of the phenomenally beautiful Island of Hachijoujima.
