Alexander Dodge is an award winning designer for theatre, opera, and dance. He was born in Switzerland, raised in Arizona, and lives in New York. BROADWAY designs include: ANASTASIA (Outer Critics Circle Nomination) and US, Spain, Germany, Netherlands Tours, A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER (Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle Nominations) and US Tour, PRESENT LAUGHTER (Tony Nomination), also OLD ACQUAINTANCE, BUTLEY and HEDDA GABLER. LONDON West End: ALL NEW PEOPLE written and starring Zach Braff directed by Peter DuBois. His opera work includes SAMSON ET DALILA for the Metropolitan Opera, THE THIRTEENTH CHILD for Santa Fe Opera, THE GHOSTS OF VERSAILLES for L.A.Opera, DINNER AT EIGHT for Minnesota and Wexford, AMERICAN TRAGEDY for Glimmerglass Festival, IL TRITTICO for Deutsche Oper Berlin, , LOHENGRIN for Hungarian State Opera, Budapest and DER FLIEGENDE HOLLANDER, Wuerzburg, Germany. Recent Off-Broadway work includes HARRY CLARKE directed by Leigh Silverman, THE LIAR at CSC, RIPCORD directed by David Hyde Pierce at Manhattan Theatre Club, LIPS TOGETHER TEETH APART at Second Stage, and RAPTURE BLISTER BURN at Playwright's Horizons. At the Roundabout he designed the premiere of Theresa Rebek's THE UNDERSTUDY, at Lincoln Center the John Guare premiere CHAUCER IN ROME and OBSERVE THE SONS OF ULSTER (Lucille Lortel Award) both directed by Nicholas Martin. At the Public Theater he designed the premiere of David Grimm's MEASURE FOR PLEASURE directed by Peter Dubois. Other notable projects include the new musical CHASING RAINBOWS at Paper Mill Playhouse directed and choreographed by Denis Jones. Disney's THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME at La Jolla and Paper Mill Playhouses and tours in Japan and Germany directed by Scott Schwartz and the musical premiere of THE FLAMINGO KID directed by Darko Tresnjak at Hartford Stage.He also created the production design for the children's television show JULIE'S GREENROOM starring Julie Andrews for Netflix.Alexander lives in Manhattan with his husband, Charlie and their two sons, Nicholas and George.
