I have a varied work history due to a combination of businesses moving leading to redundancies, caring for family and finally a solid previous role in hospitality. My working history has always involved customers and the general public in some sort of fashion. I have worked in insurance, energy services, child care, administration and receptionist based roles. I would call myself someone who is always willing to go above and beyond to help, someone who works as hard as they can and will always attempt everything presented to me with a high level of enthusiasm. I’ve always worked to the premise of “if I don’t know the answer, I will find the answer.” Honesty in any situation is the best way to get things done.I am well versed in technology, having used Windows in it's many iterations for years, followed by ChromeOS and now I work with MacOS both as in desktop but also as iOS. I have a lot of experience using MS Word, Outlook, Powerpoint etc, however, I will be honest and state that I only have a basic grasp of Excel, but I am learning. I am also capable of typing up to 55WPM with a high degree of accuracy. I have experience of typing from audio as well as being able to touch type. My life experiences have also put me in the position of wanting to seek employment within advocacy and becoming a qualified advocacy worker. I have spent a lot of time helping family and friends as their defacto advocate for when they have needed help. An up to date example is helping my friend who is presently in hospital and struggles with communication. I have worked with her to develop ways and means for her to effectively communicate without taking over. I believe in working "with and alongside, not about and over". I would love to eventually be able to develop actual packs for vulnerable people to have about their person should they need to communicate and cannot. This doesn't just apply to those who are non verbal, but maybe people just coming out of prison and need to remember everything they've been told, people who's first language isn't English, hospitalised people who cannot communicate. I want to be able to help people in the way that I was helped when I needed an advocate.I'm reliable, responsible and flexible. I will always be honest with people upfront when I say am neurodiverse and have some disabilities (both mental and physical) however, I have always tried to make sure they don't get in the way, and with reasonable accommodations you will find that you have a good employee on your hands!
