After gaining a degree in Theatre and Performance Technology whilst working for local crew in Liverpool, I then set about gaining more varied experience. First I began working at Town Hall and Symphony Hall in Birmingham, gaining experience in Sound, Lighting, Stage and Rigging on a wide array of genres (Conference, Music, Orchestral, Comedy, Theatre and Performing Arts). Whilst still working there I began working at the Hippodrome and MAC arts centre in Birmingham, at one venue working on large scale national tours on stage and from the fly rail, and at the other working on small tours and with the community on a wide variety of shows in a wide variety of genres, usually as the sole technician.I then took on work as a ground rigger, working at a few companies in the West Midlands, and gaining experience whilst doing so for the PLASA trainee rigger scheme, which enabled me to take and achieve my National Rigging Certificate level 2.Whilst continuing all of this work I began working at the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton as a stage hand, quickly progressing to flying shows as well as working the get-ins and outs. In addition to this I am also a member of the Association of Stage Pyro Technicians, and am competent at setting up and firing pyrotechnics.All of this means I have a varied skill set and can work any genre of Performing Arts in the roles described above.
