After successful completion & delivery of all three start up contracts, my achievement had been recognised with a promotion to Transport controller where I continue to lead the continued support for all 3 projects that are now running contracts as well as an additional 4 contracts. Supplementary to this I am also responsible for overseeing all day to day running and operational and transport compliance at two sites. A vital part of my role centralises around ensuring all company and legal compliances anything from Transport to Human resources. I am responsible for holding the Operating Licence for both sites. I Pro-actively manage VOR's to ensure downtime is minimised by monitoring and tracking NFPM and identifying trends in spend. Directly working with maintenance providers to reduce, monitor and track performance. Scheduling all driver training requirements to ensure legal and internal compliance. Ensure vehicles are maintained to company & legal standards with minimal operational disruption through strategic planning Preventative Maintenance Schedule. Planning is an integral part of my role; I work to implement additional contracts/work into the department to improve site profitability. Monitor agreed resource level across sites in line with budgets, and productivity targets, manage and enhance performance management by implementing minimum performance standards and tracking, planning corrective action meetings and preparing response to audits, internal and external.An important part of my role is to lead and support employees to maximise their career progression, job satisfaction whilst increasing productivity and margins, I actively lead engagement initiatives, train and Develop Transport team from colleagues to management, prepare team development and succession plan for all levels in the Transport team, responsible for co-coordinating sickness/absence reporting and management.

Shortly after leaving DHL and starting my new role in Bidvest I was contacted by my prior Operations Director with an offer to return to DHL in a new role specifically suited to my knowledge and skillset as the Project delivery manager overseeing 1 existing failing start up contract that had been active since March 2017 and 2 new start up contracts the company had just won starting from October 17 until February 2018.I was solely responsible for recruiting and building a successful & driven team to make the 3 contracts a success for the company, this resulted in 11 direct reports and a pool of 64 drivers & loaders.Achievements include; taking existing failing start up contract and turning it around to be successful within given timeframe, in quantified terms this resulted in a £4m per annum contract increasing to a £23m per annum contract.

I coordinate the transport department to cater over 300 flights per day. On a day to day basis I’m responsible for running 8 separate contracts with approximately 62 vehicles and 150 members of staff including, planners, clerks, drivers and loaders. On a monthly basis I conduct performance reviews including sickness; long & short term, Transport Compliance, Health, Safety and Security awareness. Quarterly I assess individual PDPs to ensure that they are on track to achieve their goals. I am also responsible for leading and planning all new contracts and lead in the start-up, integration & implementation on contracts. Achievements include: Successfully implemented 6 major start-ups to the business since 2014 increasing revenue to over £100m per annum resulting in 33% increase in flights thus lead to opening a further site and 35 job positions.I introduced a process improvement to rosters resulting in reduced overhead costs to the business. Consult to a major airline company to assist and advice on the improvement of their flight punctuality.

At the beginning of April 2011 I was asked to fill in the position of Transport Planner/ Allocator. I have been doing this role for more than a year now and have gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge. I feel comfortable and confident with my daily duties, but still challenged on a day to day basis. It is my responsibility to manage 20-25 teams per shift, to organise their work for the day and to make sure that all the flights get catered on time and correctly. I thoroughly enjoy my job role as I like to demonstrate my leadership skills when issues occur and present challenges for the team on a daily basis.

My job involved controlling the front desk, sorting out the paperwork, which the drivers need to complete their tasks airside. I have been taught the skills to deal with any arising issues the drivers may have airside, for example tail changes and aircraft changes, in which case I would need to respond quickly and organise instructions to help deal with the problem. When the drivers return from their duties I then debrief them and record any issues that may have occurred airside. This job has really improved my organisational skills which I feel will be a vital part of any future position in this company.Working with such a diverse range of colleagues has markedly developed my people skills. I feel I am more confident in dealing with individual differences and problems in the work place.
