Petroleum system modeling in support of US onshore unconventional play exploration and appraisal.The main tasks are integrating organic geochemistry, geology, and reservoir engineering to improve maturity and fluid property predictions for source rock and tight reservoir plays. Conducting scenario modeling of denudation-heatflow pairings to constrain complex burial histories for onshore basins using maturity and thermochronology data. Facilitating knowledge sharing between R&D and exploration groups. Implementation and documentation of new exploration and basin modeling workflows.Provided basin modeling support for the Permian Basin (West Texas) source rock play exploration and ongoing appraisal programs. PhD research project in petroleum system modeling of the Orange Basin, South Africa.• Conducted basin-wide 2D seismic interpretation to build the 3D basin model framework, mapped hydrocarbon leakage indicators and used 3D seismic attribute analysis to map Cretaceous channel systems and paleo-pockmarks.• Collected samples from South Atlantic IODP cores to study difference in Cretaceous source rock properties and petroleum generation potential along the African South Atlantic margin. Derived bulk- and compositional kinetic models for Aptian, Albian, and Turonian aged source rocks as input for the basin model.• Built and calibrated a 3D basin model to predict source rock maturity in the deep water Orange Basin and to characterise hydrocarbon migration and leakage across the basin.Master thesis and first academic research on the shale gas characteristics of Paleozoic black shales from northeast Germany.Laboratory work: SRA, Py-GC, HPLC, maceral description and vitrinite reflectance measurementsSoftware: Petrel, PetroMod
