After coming straight out of the University of Birmingham with a 2:1 in Mathematics, I got into my first role as a Graduate Employee Benefits Consultant at Jelf (now rebranded as Mercer Marsh Benefits). After completing my graduate scheme, I went on to become a fully qualified Employee Benefits Consultant, with a full portfolio of clients and new business targets.I stayed in this role for two years, whilst learning as much as I can about the industry and the important skills that are needed to be a consultant. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I evaluated my position at Mercer Marsh Benefits and decided that this just wasn't the career path I wanted to go down, and although I loved my position and collegues at MMB, I decided to take the leap and try something new.Unfortunately this was just at the time of the second lockdown, so new job postings were few and far between! It was always my dream to work at KPMG, and having given up the graduate scheme the first time around in 2017 to pursue Jelf, I decided to have another crack at it. I started the application process as soon a I left MMB, and after many months and many online tests, I was given to job in the Manchester office.I am now eagerly awaiting my start date at this fantastic organistion, and I can't wait to see where this career takes me.
