Während des Licht Design Studiums an der HAWK Hildesheim stößt sein Interesse für abstrakte, visuelle Kunst die erste Auseinandersetzung mit Architektur und Ornamentik an, welche sich nachfolgend zur größten Inspiration für seinen Werdegang als freischaffender Künstler entwickelt. Alexander Isakov hebt Fragmente verschiedenster Kulturen aus ihrem Ursprung und übersetzt sie in eine neue abstrakte Sprache, die zwar Assoziationen wecken kann, gleichsam aber eine frische Neutralität erschafft. Diese agile Arbeitsweise bildet die Konstante in seinem gesamtheitlichen Werk, das sich von international platzierten Wandgemälden, bis hin zu im Berliner Atelier entstandenen Leinwänden auf kein Format begrenzen lässt.—Growing up in Germany as the son of Ukrainian parents, the artist's continual reflection on his roots and heritage laid the foundation for his later style. While studying Light Design at HAWK Hildesheim, Isakov’s interest in abstract, visual art initiated the first confrontation with architecture and ornamentation. This then turned into the main inspiration for his career as an independent artist. Alexander Isakov lifts fragments from a wide range of cultures from their original settings and translates them into a new, abstract language that can definitely trigger associations, yet also creates, as it were, a fresh sense of neutrality. This agile way of working acts as a constant throughout his work and, whether it’s his murals found around the world or the canvases he creates in his Berlin studio, it is not constrained by a particular format.
