I have been in Packaging since 1989. The last 28 years I have learned:• How to be a change agent that help people to look for new better ways to do a task.• Different problem solving techniques that has helped many a factory during difficult times.• To do capability studies of packaging lines. The capability studies help to reduce downtime, improve output, improve yield and ensure a reliability.• How to set a budget and to control it. • How to set goals and mentor people to achieve it.• Setup reliability centred maintenance program using Pragma.• Create condition monitoring systems.• Help people to achieve their highest potential using the 80/20 principal and The One Minute Manager principals. • A co-operative management style has helped me turn difficult teams into strong teams that are open and honest in the team.I started my career in the Packaging industry at SAB as a Packaging Management trainee. As a trainee I had to work in every department, learn what they do and then present what I have learnt to Senior Management. At SAB I was part of their Quality upgrade strategy team that was tasked to create an environment for continuous improvement.I am part of Chill Beverages FSSC team, we have started with HACCP then changed to FSSC. Woolworths has done three audits in our plant during the time that I have been at Chill. The industry has changed over the years I have been able to stay abreast of most of the new innovations due to being inquisitive. Packaging is not work to me it has become a hobby. I am currently Packaging Technologist at Chill Beverages a young company with a dynamic young team. I am looking for a position at a company that is more established that have established structures where team member know their place in the company and have a clear career path. Where the environment is open for change and learning.
