About Alexander Jansen
Growing up in the Moselle wine region of Germany, wine has always been one of my biggest passions. After finishing my BBA degree in International Tourism Management in the Netherlands and South Africa, I completed the South African Wine Diploma at the Cape Wine Academy with distinction. As I was aspiring to acquire more knowledge about wine production and sales, I stayed at the Cape and worked for two wineries. While being fortunate enough to gain additional experience by working in wine regions such as Ribera del Duero, Tuscany and Bordeaux, I also subsequently grew into the position of being an international wine buyer for one of the biggest e-commerce wine retailers in Germany with activities in Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland & Austria.In this position, I have been fully responsible for the sourcing process & selection of bottled/bulk wines from Southern Europe (Southern France, Italy, Spain, Portugal) and South Africa.Currently I am focusing on obtaining an MSc degree in viticulture and enology at École supérieure d'Agriculture in Angers/France, which will give me the unique opportunity to strengthen my knowledge about winemaking and study in several wine regions of the world. Fluent in English and Dutch with further good working knowledge in Spanish and French, I possess strong negotiation skills and prove to be a very goal-oriented team player. My specialties include:- wine sourcing with a focus on cost effective producers from a worldwide base, but also fine wine selection- Establishment and implementation of own-brand projects for omni-channel marketing campaigns in wine retail
