I'm a Singapore-qualified lawyer with an interest in criminal law and legal innovation. I was listed as one of Singapore Business Review's Most Influential Lawyers Under 40 in 2022. I'm currently involved in:1. Legal education2. Criminal law practice 3. Law, technology and innovation I am currently Provost's Chair at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, School of Law. I previously taught the inaugural batch of SMU Law and Computing BSc undergraduates Singapore Legal System and Legal Analysis skills.I practise law at RHTLaw Asia.I am also currently Director of RHT Legal Training Institute, which is a private education provider focused on delivering practice-oriented legal education to professionals.I was previously the Programme Director for SMU Academy's Graduate Certificate in Law and Technology, a graduate level course for both lawyers and non-lawyers covering issues of legal technology, technology law, and the impact of technology on law. I was previously Deputy Director of the Office of Transformation and Innovation (Judiciary), helping to oversee transformation efforts across Singapore's judiciary, comprising the Supreme Court, State Courts and Family Justice Courts. I've worked on:1. Moving judicial hearings online during the COVID pandemic and the legislation to enable that;2. The Authentic Court Orders portal (www.courtorders.gov.sg);3. The Singapore Courts' new integrated website (www.judiciary.gov.sg); and4. The SG Courts mobile app.Before that, I was a Deputy Public Prosecutor/State Counsel with the Financial and Technology Crime Division of the Attorney-General’s Chambers (“AGC”). I prosecuted a wide variety of crimes including corruption, white collar crime, technology crime, maid abuse, intellectual property crime, and homicide. I also advised the Government on a variety of legal issues related to criminal law. I've appeared in both the State Courts and High Court as lead counsel and assisted with cases in the Court of Appeal. I also received specialised technology and cybercrime training as part of the AGC’s Technology Crime Unit. A career highlight for me was leading evidence before the Committee of Inquiry into the SingHealth Cyberattack in 2018.I read law at the University of Cambridge on a Singapore government President's Scholarship, and subsequently did my LLM at Georgetown University Law Center, graduating with Distinction, Dean's List, and three CALI Awards for being top student in a subject. I also received Distinctions in Company Law and Evidence Law for Part A of the Singapore Bar Exam.
