Leading Mechanical Hardware development of COVID-19 testing products for OTC and POC use

First non-founding employee at Luminostics, a Y Combinator-backed startup developing a smartphone adapter for the 15-minute detection of targets such as bacteria, viruses, hormones and protein biomarkers from a variety of liquid samples. Focused on Mechanical and Human Centered Design.

Mechanical Engineer working with high autonomy on design, prototype, and manufacture of laser cutter products. Hands on testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of DLP and SLA 3D printers.-Testing, optimization, and design of 3d printer mechanical components in preparation for launch of Phoenix DLP and Pegasus SLA 3D printers. Focus on precise linear motion and other factors contributing to dimensional accuracy and surface finish of printed parts.-Investigation and analysis of heat effects in 3D printers in relation to dimensional stability of parts, adhesion of print layers, and stability of mechanical components. -Sole mechanical engineer responsible for design, prototyping, and testing for new laser cutter product. Integrated feedback, collaborated with broad range of company employees, and received buy-in from management at regular design reviews.-Extensive communication with overseas partners and manufacturers to source and prototype parts for laser cutter.-Industrial design, drawing, and rendering for new laser cutter product.-

Us

At Quaesta I work in an iterative and fast paced design process focused on instrumentation development. I have developed new products working with electrical engineers, and streamlined the production of old products. I also work in marketing and technical sales. I have created a website for Quaesta, designed several pieces of marketing collateral, managed the design of many other pieces, attended large conferences and trade shows, and travelled alone internationally to represent the company.

I have attended two conferences to represent Hydroinnova: the 2014 TERENO conference (Terrestrial Environmental Observatories) in Bonn, Germany; and the 2014 American Geophysical Union in San Francisco. At these conferences I educated potential customers about Hydroinnova's novel soil moisture sensors and interfaced with current customers and influential adopters to learn more about their research and discuss future product development. I also managed the design of marketing collateral for these shows including banner stands and handouts.
