Ux Engineer (Mhci Capstone)
For my MHCI Capstone project, I worked as a UX Engineer, but fulfilled a number of different functions from UX Research to UX Design. I helped develop and conduct research and testing protocols, managed stakeholder relationships from different departments, and assisted in the design of new software workflows.
Software Engineer - System Test
As a software engineer on the system test team, I automated UI Testing through third-party software tools like Squish and automated internal database testing for da Vinci systems. I also ran and executed software test protocols for FDA clearance of new software releases. And finally, I developed internal software visualization tools for QA, Developers, and FEs.
Product Development Engineer
As a Product Development Engineer, I worked on several projects. This included developing new adapters for the current Senhance System, upgrading and maintaining surgical simulators compatible with older and newer software versions of the Senhance System, developing several test verification protocols for sterile drape compatibility with devices, evaluating various ergonomics to improve design for the surgeon interface, and designing and evaluating the next generation of surgical robotics.
Software Engineer – System Test Co-Op
The QA Engineering department is responsible for all Engineering Development testing of both systems and surgical instruments. The primary function of this position is to design, develop, and execute automated test protocols for system functional testing, including Software verification and User Interface testing for intricate robotic surgical systems using black box, gray box, and white box testing techniques.
Teaching Assistant For Bme 201: Introduction To Matlab
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Microfluidic assay development, General Lab maintenance, Protein purification, Sample Collection, Plasma Preparation, Data Analysis
Ncsu/Unc Chapel Hill Abrams Scholar
I currently work in Dr. Ashley Brown's Lab (the Advanced Wound Healing Lab), focusing on quantifying multiple properties of clot structure differences between neonatal and adult clots. This involves running clot degradation assays and developing methods in Matlab to quantify various properties like fibrin fiber overlap, fibrin branching, branching nodes, alignment, density, porosity, etc. At the end of this project, I will give a presentation and submit a final paper describing the research experience as a whole.
Technology Development Program Intern
Summer Project
As part of our Solid Mechanics Class that we took during my study abroad in China, we received a project from Caterpillar Inc. to optimize an excavator part using the concepts from our class like stress analysis. During this process, we also learned of different cultural and regional considerations for designing, manufacturing, and marketing different Caterpillar Inc. products.
Camp Mentor
As an alumni of both Magellan Charter School and the First Lego League Robotics Program at the school, I came back every summer to help mentor kids that joined the summer camp. Through this program, I helped children learn basic programming and engineering concepts and processes. The fun aspect of building with Lego pieces, programming, and other activities made this program not only enjoyable for the kids, but me as well. During the summer of 2017, I was awarded the 2017 Magellan Science Outstanding College Mentor and Honorarium Award by the coach, Dr. Alfred Childers.
Summer Intern
Under Dr. Jian Liu and as part of the pilot program, The Young Innovators Program, I worked on a research project designed me and my brother and supervised by Dr. Liu. We studied the clotting times and stability of RVV-X and RVV-V as potential proteins to help speed up the clotting times for battlefield hemostats.
