Alexander Leutner is CEO of Cellbricks Therapeutics, a Berlin-based tissue therapeutics company dedicated to bringing life-sustaining organ tissue and biological implants into hospitals worldwide. Since joining Cellbricks in 2021, he is leveraging the company's proprietary light-based 3D-Bioprinting platform to develop tissue products for regenerative medicine, with a focus on liver and soft tissue applications.With over a decade of experience in entrepreneurship, engineering and management of deep-tech companies, Alex’ dedication to Cellbricks is driven by a personal commitment to healthcare innovation, inspired by his experience donating a kidney to his younger brother. Ever since, he is passionate about creating meaningful impact in the TechBio startup sector, where technology, healthcare and business converge.Prior to his role at Cellbricks, Alex co-founded Apodius in 2012, a spin-off from RWTH Aachen University specialising in innovative metrology systems. As Co-CEO, he has led Apodius through growth and profitability until its acquisition by Hexagon AB, where he continued to lead the "Vision Systems" metrology business unit. By training, Alex is a mechanical engineer, holding degrees from RWTH Aachen University, with a focus on production technologies and quality management.Outside of work, Alex supports early-stage startups and deep-tech founders and enjoys a variety of sports including triathlons, cycling, CrossFit, soccer, kitesurfing, and backcountry skiing.
