Pioneer Plastics, a rotational moulding company, is a leading manufacturer in the plastics industry, dedicated to producing high-quality plastic products for various applications. The company prides itself on innovation, sustainability, and efficiency, utilising advanced technology and skilled craftsmanship to meet the diverse needs of its clients. During my studies, I had the opportunity to assist Pioneer Plastics with numerous tasks that allowed me to apply my theoretical knowledge in practical settings. I conducted comprehensive work and time studies to analyse the operational efficiency of their production lines. These analyses enabled multiple OEE assessments, quantifying manufacturing productivity and identifying opportunities for improvement.I successfully implemented the 5S methodology in the Raw Materials Department to enhance workplace efficiency and productivity. This initiative created a clean, organised environment that eliminated waste and reduced errors in material testing procedures. Furthermore, I contributed to the development and implementation of rigorous quality testing procedures for Polyethylene storage tanks, ensuring compliance with the SABS and SANS. I created various facility layout plans using SLP methodologies to optimise product flow. This initiative aimed to improve operational efficiency by strategically organising workspace elements to facilitate smoother material handling and reduce bottlenecks in production. Additionally, I developed a comprehensive inventory slotting allocation plan that grouped products into designated families using the Pareto Principle, literature reviews, and ABC item classifications. Ergonomic considerations were also made to ensure accessibility and safety.Developed a financial planning model leveraging historical financial data and production metrics to support the company in accurately forecasting future order costs, ultimately contributing to improved economic performance and resource allocation.

I had the privilege of working under the supervision of a qualified veterinarian, Dr. Henning, before embarking on my career in engineering. This experience gave me invaluable insights into the dynamics of a high-pressure work environment, where I developed the ability to maintain composure and efficiency while navigating complex challenges.
