Power Plant Operator
Current•Worked in a 1200MW thermal power plant powered by fuel oil and natural gas. Primary duties in this position include safely operating boiler, turbine, and plant control boards and other related auxiliary equipment. Closely following plant’s operating standards, within the confines of government environmental regulations.• Monitor meters, gauges and control boards to verify operational parameters, and make adjustments to distribution, generator output, voltage and electricity flow rates according to standard protocols and power grid requirements• Storage, transfer and loading and offloading of fossil fuels and other flammable liquids and gas.• Responsible for cleaning, lubricating and maintaining upkeep of equipment to prevent failures or deterioration. This includes periodic testing, monitoring and recording of information.• Progression through years of studying, drawing and developing a thorough understanding of equipment and Power Plant Systems.• Responding to abnormalities, determining the causes, and taking corrective action.• Worked alongside Managers, Chief Control Operators and Technicians/Mechanics in a team environment to de-energize and isolate equipment to ensure repairs and routine maintenance can be done safely. (LOTO)• Completing and maintaining necessary forms, logs, and reports.• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and facility such as landscaping,cleaning, changing oil and filters, and painting.•Follow all Osha and industry safety protocols in regard to PPE, fall protection, equipment recommendations and usage of power tools to perform daily tasks.
