I worked with a client from Kazakhstan. I made an app for security service of his company and an accounting app for his personal needs.

I developed and maintained payment processing services, implemented and released features, designed architectural solutions, etc. A plain old software developer job. It was there that I discovered PoEAA and first tried writing software the DDD way.

I was developing a system for aggregation, batching and reporting of legal entities’ logistic operations to federal accounting systems. I wrote tests, developed features, fixed bugs, etc. There I noticed that readability is much more significant than urgent releases and started getting comfortable with using patterns in practice.

I was responsible for maintaining and refactoring a high load authentication/authorization service. There I figured out that companies have to actually care about lifecycles of products and not lay off key employees, else they’ll end up with an alien codebase which is maintainable by nobody.

I developed an internal video-ad delivery server for a retail franchise to show advertisements in local stores. I packaged the application, released it, etc. There I didn’t get mentored much and just did my job.

I developed backend for internal applications store for LeroyMerlin. It was at this point that I started my Java journey and I’m really grateful to my PM because he believed in me and hired me. I discovered Spring and Docker and found out that it’s not good idea to mix learning the language and a framework simultaneously. I developed my very first microservices and deployed them.
