Alex Salmon obtained a BS in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he discovered a passion for neuroscience and computer programming, while also working as a Biomolecular Chemistry lab/research assistant for Jon Audhya, PhD. Alex then sought to conduct research in a "damp" lab (one that combines wet-lab techniques, e.g., histology, with dry-lab techniques, e.g., automated image analysis), and found a perfect fit with Joe Carroll, PhD at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he earned his PhD. Alex then joined TII (Translational Imaging Innovations), a software startup with the goal of developing tools that accelerate vision research and result in better detection, prognosis, and treatment of blinding eye diseases.
