Alexander Squier is a visual artist, curator, and designer based in Houston, TX. He is known primarily for his intricate drawings, screen prints, and site-based installations. His work studies the urban environment, architecture and infrastructure, trends in planning and design, and questions our relationship with nature and our physical legacy or "footprint". Currently, Squier works out of his studio at BOX 13 ArtSpace in Houston's East End. After heading up exhibitions there for many years, he worked as the Director of Programs at the Alta Arts space in Gulfton, a new organization dedicated to showcasing visual and performing arts in that area of the city. Today, Squier is the Exhibitions Director for Sawyer Yards, the largest art studio complex in the United States. In addition to curating and exhibition design, Squier teaches and periodically offers printmaking classes at Art League Houston. He has also taught at the Printing Museum of Houston, the University of Houston, and the Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. He is open to commissions at any scale, and has designed works for several buildings both in Houston and Boston.
