I am a graduated sports scientist, currently holding an EXIST scholarship from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg (Department for Sport Science and Sport). As a young researcher back at University, I was able to build a scientific career by writing research grants and acquiring funding for numerous research projects, leading to a post-doc position and an international standing in rehabilitation research. My research focus always was in multiple sclerosis and physical activity/mobility. In particular, I am very interested and acquired expertise in objective assessment of physical activity and mobility limitations, which will become more and more important for the evaluation of health status, rehabilitation effects and – increasingly so with medications that improve physical functioning - medication effects. At University, I started to generate an extensive Key Opinion Leader network in the neurological field through collaborative projects, conference visits and publications as well as through giving continued medical education courses for physicians. In the last year with MedDay Pharmaceuticals, I was able to considerably extend and deepen my existing network and gain valuable experiences and insights from within the pharmaceutical industry.Back at University and being an EXIST scholar and founder, I can integrate knowledge from both worlds into the improvement and establishment of e-health services for persons with chronic conditions.
