Overview: Designed a transporting cart while utilizing Solidworks and ProE CAD Designed to address safety concerns regarding major semiconductor instrument frames Demonstrated efficient communication with engineers and managers at different facilities Gained practical experience in creating engineering drawings suitable for industry useDetailed:My main responsibility as a Design Engineering Intern at Ultra Clean Technology (UCT) was to design a transporting cart to be used at UCT’s Pflugerville, TX facility. The transporting cart was designed to address safety concerns regarding a large semiconductor company's testing frames. In order to accomplish my responsibilities, I needed to demonstrate efficient communication with engineers, mechanics, and managers at different UCT facilities. It also required me to use Solidworks and ProE Wildfire5/Creo to model and perform stress analysis of the designed cart. Some of the difficulties that my team and I faced was addressing a mechanism to lock the cart to different frames. This proved difficult when we had to consider the different sizes, weights, shapes, and centers of mass of the different frames while considering the stresses, cost, and size of the cart. But by constantly communicating and delegating tasks, the project was completed before the end of my internship. Through this experience, I not only gained a practical understanding of the working environment of a manufacturing company, but also how to create engineering drawings from both an engineer’s and mechanic’s perspective.

Overview: Controlled Bill of Material (BOM) documents Began plans to reorganize the manufacturing floor for an incoming product Designed a manufacturing fixture using Solidworks and AutoCAD to reduce human error on the manufacturing floorDetailed:My main responsibility as an Engineering Intern was to help my Manufacturing Manager with document control and communicating concerns with the manufacturing floor. I was constantly re-evaluating and, whenever necessary, redlining OMS's and BOMs for inconsistencies. Part of my internship included re-designing the manufacturing floor to accommodate for a new product line and a declining older product. Unfortunately, I was not able to complete the project before the end of my internship; however, I was able to make preliminary measurements and design recommendations to my supervisor. This experience really showed me how important the little details are. Modern day companies work with a variety of suppliers and properly communicating a set of instructions with as little defects as possible makes the process that much smoother.

Overview: Developed in-Lab testing devices utilizing SolidWorks and 3D printing for a doctoral candidate's research Tested and collected data on experimental materials utilizing Labview software that moved research forward and led to the inclusion of the doctoral candidate's publication (Refer to Publications section)
