Alexander Dieter is an attorney licensed to practice in the District of Columbia. Alexander is fascinated with emerging technologies, and aspires to explore, understand, and address the legal, practical, and developmental challenges of the technological frontier.In May 2023, Alexander graduated with Honors from The George Washington University Law School (JD, 2023) where he studied international commercial law, U.S. export controls and economic sanctions, anti-corruption and compliance, and customs laws. He received his BA in Philosophy summa cum laude from Florida Atlantic University. Alexander has closely monitored agency guidance and enforcement actions taken by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), and State’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC). Mr. Dieter has conducted legal research into the intricacies of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), OFAC sanctions programs, Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) regulations, and Treasury’s outbound investment program. He also has experience conducting due diligence reviews for clients, including denied party screening, and has contributed to the development of export compliance manuals and training materials. In addition, Alexander has assisted Torres Trade Law attorneys in connection with internal corporate investigations, voluntary self-disclosures (VSDs), and settlement negotiations involving the Department of Justice (DOJ).
