I have extensive knowledge of the music business and artist management as well as content creation, and event production/brand partnerships. I have worked with several brands on experiential marketing campaigns, and lead all marketing and PR projects for the independent record label, Closed Sessions, which I formed in 2010. I have produced documentaries for MTV2 Sucker Free, coordinated international tours, and was named a Chicagoan of The Year in 2016 by the Chicago Tribune. I have extensive familiarity with recording contracts, synch licenses, compulsory licenses, and booking agreements. I understand the art of negotiation, and how to reach a partnership with artists that can benefit everyone. Since I started Closed Sessions, I have signed 15 artists to customized recording agreements. I have also negotiated two distribution deals for Closed Sessions. I have developed keen leadership skills through these positions, as well as my teaching career at Columbia College and Teach For America. I bring an extensive network both in Chicago and globally that includes artists, brand managers, venue owners, journalists, and other creatives. I have developed trust and a strong reputation within the music industry and Hip Hop community as a writer, DJ, and professional. I am currently accepting opportunities in the music industry. I am looking for opportunities that allow me to work with other talented and driven people. I want new challenges and to be pushed creative and professionally. I believe I can be an asset to a variety of companies in the music, tech, and branding/marketing space. If you are looking to build out a music program, I am an ideal candidate with my experience and rolodex.
