    I was the process engineer for the Reactive Liquid Polymer (RLP) department at Huntsman (formerly Emerald Performance Materials).My role has provided me with a wealth of experience in many different chemical engineering aspects. I have obtained valuable experience learning and optimizing how unit operations run. I also have gained lots of exposure to troubleshooting unit operations and process equipment. This includes batch reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, control valves, separators, and continuous/batch distillation columns. My process engineering role has allowed me to learn the Emerson DeltaV control system. I have completed the DeltaV Systems Batch Implementation and Using DeltaV Operate training courses. This training along with learning how DeltaV works in the field, has allowed me the ability to create new recipes, new control modules, new equipment, and new control logic to improve the manufacturing process. I use lab data, DeltaV trends, field observations, operator knowledge, and Aspen data to evaluate the manufacturing process for inefficiencies and bottlenecks. This also has led to the creation of capital improvement projects that I have managed from start to finish. I am responsible for the process manufacturing and operating procedures, as well as training the operators using the management of change system. My role also has allowed me to gain experience in calculating mass balances for the process, manage off-grade material that is produced from the process, and enhance the process running schedule. I have also gained experience with decontaminating, rebuilding, commissioning, and starting up an entire process. I enjoy the challenge that comes with being in a twenty-four hour, three hundred sixty-five days a year, continuous process.
