Sandy (Alexander) Jackson is a specialty trainee in anaesthetics and intensive care medicine. Having trained at the University of Edinburgh, including a BMedSci in epidemiology, Sandy moved to Southampton where he has pursued integrated clinical academic training. His primary research interest is the application of data science, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, to perioperative care. Sandy is passionate about making effective use of the growing wealth of healthcare data. To facilitate this, he has completed an MSc in Data Science and has been awarded an NIHR Doctoral Fellowship to support a PhD exploring patient-centred outcomes after major surgery.Outside of clinical academia Sandy is a keen skiier, traveller and proud owner of two ex-racing greyhounds, as well as an avid converter of campervans.
