The Learning Spaces Officer coordinates policies and practices across the Client Services team to ensure the physical learning environment of the Library is conducive to study, research and community engagement. Collaborating with the Manager, Client Services and Infrastructure and Facilities Services, this role implements space utilization strategies, providing data to support library learning space improvement and refurbishment plans to ensure effective use of space.Key achievements in this position have been:- Successfully closing the Huxley Library with the library team during the COVID-19 pandemic, coordinating with removal teams and other stakeholders to complete this monumental task of merging the Huxley library into the Auchmuty main library.- Supervising student interns through successful UX assessments of physical learning spaces.- Supporting the construction of multi-million dollar upgrades to learning spaces in the Auchmuty library, including the creation of student Film Studios and Podcast Rooms for improving content creation and digital skills.- Improving the facilities for multi-faith library users with upgrades to the Auchmuty Prayer and Reflection rooms.- Installing new people counting hardware to the University libraries to vastly improve the accuracy of our occupancy data collection, which allows for more in-depth data studies of our visitors.- Leading a portfolio focused on facilities & learning spaces, for the continual maintenance and improvement of space services, including creating new work flows, better procedures and policies, and implementing a regular UX study for spaces for continuous iterative design.

This position involved triaging queries and urgent requires, maintaining large library collections, curating specific collections, and creating book events to promote our collection.I took on leadership opportunities in first aid and mental health support, emergency warden duties, and during the rapid roll out of services changes during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia.

The learning objects I created had a great reception and are still used in current library learning.

Working for various theatre companies in the Newcastle region during and after my academic studies, I learned the exciting trade of being a working actor, stage crew member, sound engineer, and music composer/performer. This colourful period involved meeting a huge range of diverse people and was a rich and fulfilling practice that honed my communication skills and ability to be flexible and handle change and complex project environments.
