In this role, I was responsible for laboratory management and research for the Guerdat Lab at the University of New Hampshire. My duties included preparing protocols, maintaining chemical inventories, system maintenance, fish performance, water quality monitoring, and training employees. My research focused on performing a nutrient mass balance on recirculating aquaculture systems for multiple species of fish and optimizing plant production in coupled recirculating aquaponic systems.

As a research assistant in the Kapuscinski lab, I was responsible for laboratory management and research. I refined facility protocols and collaborated in the development of an in vitro fish digestion simulation process. My research focused on evaluating microalgae as a suitable replacement for fishmeal in aquafeeds. I was also tasked with training and managing lab employees regarding system maintenance, fish performance, and water quality testing.

As a volunteer at the Regional Science Consortium, I cooperated on multiple projects. I assisted in the construction of the Living Stream Recirculating Aquaculture System project to assess the reproductive success of invasive species. Identified macroinvertebrates in population surveys in response to pollution mitigation. Examined water quality samples for cyanobacteria and E. coli. Finally I was also responsible for maintaining aquaculture, terrarium, and greenhouse exhibits.

In this role I assessed salmon migration and enumeration using weirs in the Susitna River drainage. My responsibilities included age, sex, length and otolith sampling for smolt and adult salmon during migration.
