The rest is noise.What does this mean in practice?- Deeply understand the life-cycle of the business, the strategy, the resources, and competitive positioning- Align formal and informal leadership around shared objectives - Tweak program design to ensure resonance to goals across business units / functions- Organize administrative functions in a 'service-mindset model' and free leadership to spend time creating value- Publish, evangelize, build energy, and have fun while chasing meaningful progress (performance)- Ensure performance management is a part of company culture (not bolted-on)- Develop a business scale roadmap and leverage milestones to reinforce all of the above- Repeat (iterate), refine (pursue elegance) and simplicity are imperatives- The cardinal sin of leadership is adding noise/distractions to the chaos of growing business
