CarbonStore provides access to woodland creation projects to environmentally conscious companies seeking to offset their CO2 emissions, helping them to achieve their Net Zero targets. We also help landowners to maximise the value of their woodlands by arranging the sale of their woodland carbon units.Working closely with Forest Managers at Tilhill has been critical in supporting landowners to effectively assess their carbon sequestration potential. Alongside this, I work with environmentally conscious companies to help fund new woodland creation schemes across the UK.

As a Forest manager covering southern central England I was based out of Tilhill forestry's Alton office. The role included managing a variety of projects over an array of properties. Specifically this included day to day woodland management along with the initiation and facilitation of planting and harvesting projects. The role also incorporated tendering and pricing for projects outside of our managed woodlands.

As an assistant manager in the I&P team my role was to assist in the acquisition of forest properties for new and existing clients. During this time I was engaged in Tilhills graduate scheme and completed the bespoke "Unlocking Potential" course run by Explore Training & Development. This culminated in a presentation to members of Tilhill board showcasing an engaging and innovative business idea.

Working as a Shadow Ranger I have further developed my on the job skills including practical site management, working with communities and engaging and working with the public, schools and colleges. I have worked closely with the Community Ranger to support and help local communities to become actively involved in the care and management of urban fringe woodlands & countryside sites in North Nottinghamshire this is done through community practical projects, engagement and management of community interest groups and public expectation. This has promoted my skills and taught me how to involve local people in the decision making and management of their local environment.

Residence Assistants live in University accommodation and provide advice, guidance, information and support to students leaving home to come to university for the first time.This role worked on my ability to remain affable with students whilst not taking on an over authoritative stance, to remain helpful and approachable. This lead to many students approaching me with difficult and private matters that I have dealt with accordingly, this often means signposting them to the correct university department, a responsibility that has created a strong bond between myself, other members of the Residence Assistant Team and members of staff from Accommodation Services and Security.These experiences combined have taught me to be a well rounded individual which along with my natural ambition to help people have lead me to be a approachable and useful person on the Residence Assistant team.

Whilst on this placement I worked as part of the Town Council’s Countryside Unit to carry out daily practical management at Parks and Nature Reserves in and around Shrewsbury.Duties included-Carrying out practical habitat and site management such as path clearing and construction, tree planting, hay making, constructing fences, benches and boardwalks, clearing litter, coppicing and felling and assisting farmers with livestock management.Assisting the Ranger in working with and leading a team of volunteers and work experience students.Undertaking care and routine maintenance of all the tools and the department’s vehicles and trailers.To occasionally help with other development work carried out by the Ranger, such as management planning and meeting with potential site developers. Whilst all the time making sure safe working practices are maintained, keeping to and promoting the Health and Safety Regulations and Risk Assessment.
