Alexander Murry Email and Phone Number
I have been a photographer for seven years. The images I have produced represent a wide range of artistic genera and reflect a period of change and development I went through mostly as a result of travel. My wedding photography style is more informal with a focus on capturing human emotion. I use a Canon 50D and support it with my LG G4 Smartphone. I produce all images in RAW format. I engage with guests and do my best to find balance between volume and quality of product. I have two credits to my name. The first is a large scale documentary style project that involved taking a single photograph of every subway stop in the Seoul, South Korea subway system. I was responsible for 51 of the 400 stations. There were 20 other contributing photographers who were all part of an expat photography group called the Seoul Photo Club. The project took several months to complete and was a side project while I taught English to young children full time. I travelled on weekends (sometimes for two hours in a single trip) to complete the deadline for this project and was challenged to create unique images in standardized environments..I have a basic understanding of lighting but try to create product photographs in natural light environments. I am versatile and creative in my approach to photographing a product. I avoid using digital mediums as a crutch and believe that fewer photographs shot carefully far outweigh the benefits of many photographs shot in a hurry. My first assignment was a glass blowing gallery in Portland, OR where I had to set up and shoot in the shop. I used a single speed light and whatever was available to document all variations of products the shop produced. No matter how unusual the subject...always get the details right.Other experience involves portraits from a documentary perspective. I shoot landscapes, and macro, all of which serves to tell part of my story.

Maggot WranglerBeneficial Insectary Jan 2017 - Jul 2017Redding, California AreaI worked for a company that produces an alternative to chemical based insecticides. They raise fly larvae to a pupal stage which are then infested with a parasitic wasp which is distributed to areas in need of fly control. I worked in the nursery which is dedicated to year round larvae production. I was moved into the industrial greenhouse to grow plants for use as infestation medium. My position was terminated when they downsized production in the area I worked to develop. -
CookRocky Mountain Oyster Bar Apr 2016 - Oct 2016During the time I was a cook at Rocky Mountain Oyster Bar I was involved in the organization of the kitchen and walk-in coolers to ensure smooth operation. During the summer months, when tourist traffic was at its peak, I successfully ran line operations in a high volume environment. I left this position to pursue the life altering circumstance of having a baby.My time at Rocky Mountain Oyster Bar was an overall positive experience. My co-workers were a pleasure to work with and I was offered challenges which I was proud to take on. My exit wasn't perfect but I feel I gave ample warning to those in charge of my departure and didn't leave anybody with more than could be handled.

Clue MasterEpic Escape Game Jan 2016 - Apr 2016Greater Denver AreaI was responsible for introducing guests to puzzle environments, general maintenance of puzzle elements, and providing clues to guests as part of the puzzle solving process. During the final weeks of my employment I was a key member of a team responsible for creating a new puzzle environment. It was a difficult task and I took responsibility of running a full schedule of puzzle room guests (170 people in total) while my other team members were busy working to piece together a literal puzzle. My ability to mange large volumes of guests allowed us to successfully complete the project on time. I left this position because I was not making enough money to elevate myself out of terrible living conditions in a city with rent prices much higher than I was making at this job.I very much enjoyed working in the emerging industry of puzzle rooms and was disappointed to leave.

Bird Handler/Shop Manager (In Training)Busy Beaks Bird Shop Dec 2015 - Jan 2016Greater Denver AreaBasic responsibilities of this position were cleaning cages, feeding and watering birds, and answering questions posed by customers. The secondary tasks I had to master mainly involved learning individual personalities of birds who were capable of tearing large portions of flesh from hands and face. I learned a lot of interesting information regarding birds and was able to communicate with several of them by the time I was eventually terminated from the position. I was "let go" after I failed to complete a full cleaning of the 175 cages in a single day. Both of the employees who were supposed to assist me during this task were forced to leave work early leaving me to complete a large portion of the job on my own. In the middle of trying to finish, the owners came to check on progress and observed me cleaning with a less-than-pleasant attitude that they didn't like. I was told that I could relinquish my duties as manager or be let go. The result was that I gave the keys back to the owners and they told me to take the rest of the day off. I was later let go.I didn't want to leave this job...I loved those birds.

BusserAvanti Food And Beverage Company Aug 2015 - Nov 2015Denver, CoRan general support for servers and bartenders. I cleared tables, organized storage, and kept trash at acceptable levels. I left this position because of general anxiety in the face of extenuating life circumstance. There was a general attitude amongst my co-workers that if they didn't feel like doing something they could just "let Alex finish it". I got really tired and really burned out and couldn't stand the idea of being the workhorse that nobody wanted to give a break...Overall I had a good experience in this position and the fault was partly mine for trying to do too much too soon. The GM at this business was Isaac who was always a pleasure to interact with.

Dishwasher/Fry CookPapa Boudreaux'S Cajun Cafe May 2015 - Aug 2015Franklin, TnI worked a fry station and ran continual dish service for a small family operated restaurant. I quit this job because I was living in my car in TN in August with no A/C. I quit mid shift in dramatic fashion. I had been told when I started that pay would be $9.50/hr for a probationary period of two weeks and that after that I would receive $11/hr after that period was completed. After two weeks of work at $9.00/hr, and then a third week at $9.00/hr and then a fourth...I asked why my pay hadn't been increased and was responded to with the claim that two weeks was 14 working days which equated to five total weeks and that they would be willing to increase my pay to $9.50/hr...no thank you.Things I enjoyed about this position were small working area and a dynamic roles which required I be conscious of multiple work roles at all times. That and I enjoyed the "rough" cajun style of cooking.

Swim CoachPunahou Aquatics Jan 2013 - Apr 2015Honolulu, HiI did good work here, but life changes. There were a lot of reasons why this position didn't work, most of them having to do with circumstances external to my employment. Island paralysis turned out to be a real thing and most of the people I knew either didn't understand that I was suffering or were too busy dealing with their own issues. I learned a lot, but had to get out in the end before I found myself locked into a lifestyle with no escape.Leaving this position in the manner that I did haunts me to this day. I feel as if I abandoned the children under my care. I hate myself for not managing my personal life better and taking a harder stance on solutions which would have allowed me to step out gracefully.
