Research Assistant for several substance abuse epidemiology projects, including with the Boricua Youth Study (South Bronx, NYC and Puerto Rico). I am currently working with research teams investigating medical marijuana laws, internet, gaming, and gambling addictions, as well as prescription drug monitoring programs, and the nonmedical use of prescription opioids. In my role, I am being trained in grant, protocol, and manuscript writing and editing.Research Assistant for the World Trade Center Responders Study - a multi-school study that addresses the contribution of exposure at the World Trade Center to the progression of cardiac or neurological event. Reporting to the principal investigator, I help develop, adopt, and implement the protocols of the study, including subject recruitment/follow-up and data collection. I also ensure compliance with institutional and governmental regulations, and assist the PI with progress reports to NIH.

The goal of this project is to improve the quality of mobile health interventions by ensuring they are evidence-based. I am working in the METHODS Team at Centre de Recherche Épidémiologie et Statistique Sorbonne Paris Cité (INSERM), under the supervision of Pr. Philippe Ravaud.

Managed more than 100 legal cases of device and drug adverse events allegations comprised of literature reviews, regulatory research, and medical records investigations for various therapeutic areas (i.e. cardiovascular, pain management/NSAIDS, gastrointestinal, neurology), culminating in the drafting of expert witness disclosures, winning all trial cases and avoiding trial and depositions for seventy percent of other cases.• Developed timelines built upon pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles, specific to plaintiffs, based on witness depositions and thousands of pages of patient medical records (i.e., to find legal history precedent), creating empirical stories used as evidence in legal proceedings• Conducted literature reviews with PubMed/MedLine, finding relevant literature used as evidence in court to support client positions; in addition archived articles in the firm’s Reference Manager database for future use• Performed research using Codes of Federal Regulations and Physicians Desk References in effect at the time of alleged adverse events, gathering critical information on regulatory approval of products in question and approved indications pertinent to the legitimacy of plaintiffs’ claims, contributing to expert witness disclosures as evidence in court proceedings• Tested (i.e., quality control) of survey data collected from three healthcare stakeholders that assessed their knowledge of a medication's Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy required by FDA

Refined journalistic acumen by editing several features of well known hockey writers such as Ken Campbell; wrote a feature on a Toronto Maple Leafs painting that was never recognized by team management until the article was published in September 2009 and the painting was featured on TSN; Interviewed noteworthy people in the professional hockey industry including Maple Leafs executive Tom Anselmi and Hockey Hall of Fame director Ron Ellis in writing the feature.

Reviewed hundreds of grant files in re-organization of P3 Program to help the director determine if more grant money was to be awarded to universities for their environmental projects; Virally promoted P3 Project Fair on the National Mall (April 2009) by creating a Facebook event and YouTube videos to get information to a younger and more technologically savvy population.
