Course: Computational Portraiture, NYU ITPTen percent of all photographs ever taken were created in just the last year. How has the ubiquity of cameras changed our culture's relationship to images and altered photography as an artistic medium? By combining digital imaging, new sensing technology, algorithms, and metadata like geolocation, scientists and artists are discovering ways to synthesize new forms of vision out of vast data sets. Have these processes revealed new ways of seeing? What possibilities await in the near future?During this 2-point course survey recent artworks made with techniques such as photogrammetry, 3D scanning, and computer vision, and research the tools used to create them. Students have one week to conduct a portrait study using one of the techniques explored.

Blackout is a virtual reality documentary inviting New Yorkers to share stories in their own voice. Blackout illuminates the moments when our lives intersect in a space where differences are most visible – the subway. It is an ongoing, participatory project gathering real experiences from this political instant.

A research residency to explore the past, present, and possible futures for virtual reality and its relationship to cinema. Through an installation in the galleries, a lecture, workshop, and a screening, we explored how these virtual worlds were crafted in the past and how they are created now, and, in turn, what a desire to create alternatives to reality says about human beings.

LOVE CHILD 사이버 사랑 is a documentary film made by Valerie Veatch about Internet policy development. Centered in South Korea - the world's most wired nation - Love Child follows the story of the first case where "Internet addiction" was cited as a mental illness defense and looks at today's Korean gaming culture in search of harmony in an increasingly immersive media environment, where virtual is the new reality.I spent two weeks filming in South Korea visiting immersive gaming environments and internet cafes, interviewing game designers and filming city life in and around Seoul. I also made a series of DepthKit sequences made to illustrate the complicated convergence of real & virtual worlds.Love Child premiered at Sundance Film Festival in 2014 & airs on HBO starting July 2014. The visual design was created in collaboration with Ryan Whittier-Hale.

Brought a photographic project called 'SlyPhone', an exploration of the future of wearable cameras to the Polish Photography Biennale at the Arsenał Municipal Gallery in Poznań. The show was called Pyroerotomachy, curated by Krzysztof Gutfrański and included a live workshop that I conducted with local students and artists on the topic of public photography.

Developed the early stages of Depthkit while an honorary resident at Eyebeam. I focused primarily accessibility – teaching workshops, digital fabrication and enabling an international community of people to use our early volumetric filmmaking prototypes.

Developing lasting client relationships with a wide variety of companies and organizations & publications; publishing work in books, magazines, newspapers & the web. A wide-ranging set of clients brought me from taking portraits of John McCain to going on tour with Rihanna.

Topics including political events, back stage at NYC Fashion Week, Art Basel, and museums. During my tenure I photographed many public figures including Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Martha Stewart, Anna Wintour and countless other household names. I was also the in house photographer for Pace Galleries, photographing Fred Wilson, Carsten Nicolai, Tara Donovan, David Byrne and Chuck Close.

Co-founded an award-winning web and creative agency. We specialized in inventive web and advertising campaigns for national brands and non-profits.

Worked under Cameron Tonkinwise towards creating an Environmental Studies degree program at the New School, focused on design theory and urban sustainability, developed a comprehensive web and outreach strategy for an academic research center focused on sustainability in urban environments.The Tishman Environment and Design Center (TEDC) fosters the integration of bold design, policy, and social justice approaches to environmental issues to advance just and sustainable outcomes in collaboration with communities.
