Alex Marks is an experienced policy and government relations professional with deep experience in the renewable energy transition, natural resources governance and the water-energy-food nexus. Alex is currently Associate Director, Government & Stakeholder Relations, for the Clean Energy Finance Corporation. Alex shepherds the CEFC's engagement with government and other stakeholders across generation, storage, distributed energy, natural capital, agriculture, an innovation.Prior to the CEFC, Alex worked for Allume Energy, a company committed to expanding access to rooftop solar to everyone. Allume Energy has invented the SolShare, the world's first hardware-based solution for sharing rooftop solar in apartment buildings. Alex's final role at Allume Energy involved working with government and advocacy organisations to expand access to rooftop solar. Alex has previously led on business development, operations and finance during Allume's startup phase.Prior to joining Allume, Alex worked as a policy adviser in the Parliament of Victoria, for a water & sanitation social enterprise in Kenya, managed the Australian Mekong Water Resources Program (at the time the largest bilateral aid program on water governance in the Greater Mekong Subregion) and worked on the Australian Government's early involvement in Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD).Alex has experience in navigating complex policy areas and contested landscapes/waterscapes. In these contexts Alex has worked with government, industry and civil society stakeholders to improve decision-making, build capacity and create forums for deliberative consultation.
