I am a licensed MD ("legitimerad läkare") doing my PhD in clinical neuroscience. - ORCiD: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2104-1595- Web of Science: KQU-7664-2024My research focus lies on the neuroimmune interface, i.e., how the nervous and immune systems interact and how this interaction is involved in the regulation of sleep and pain. In order to do this, the research group I work in specialize in quantitative sensory testing (QST), immune profiling of serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) using multiplex cytokine panels, and polysomnography (PSG). Furthermore, the function of the blood-brain barrier is very interesting to us due to the potential of inflammatory activity, pain, and sleep to alter its function both separately and in orchestration, and is something we evaluate both biochemically and radiologically. I believe that by looking more closely at CNS immune activation both biochemically and radiologically, and by trying to correlate these findings to clinical phenotyping, we can learn more about the pathophysiology underlying chronic pain. I see my work as a medical doctor as a combination of three core skills: communication, pedagogics and theoretical knowledge. My conviction is that in order to provide good healthcare we need to be teachers and communicators. To deliver the best health care we can, we need to have a deep theoretical understanding of the human body. Finally, looking forward, we need to be researchers in order to improve health care.My way of winding down is singing, and in my pastime, I sing in Uppsala-based male-voice choir Orphei Drängar as well as perform as a tenor soloist. I've also engaged with the "European Medical Students' Orchestra and Choir" (EMSOC) since 2016, and in 2022, I was the head organiser of the event, organising everything from scheduling, food, hostel, transportation and sheet music to make sure 100 students and young doctors from all over Europe had a wonderful 10-day project.
