I am a builder.I am passionate about building companies. I love to build games and software. In my spare time I build furniture out of wood. I get a kick out of crafting something new that has a purpose and a soul.I value responsibility in myself and the people I work with. I try to live it every day and teach my children to behave accountably.I’ve started four companies, Bungie, Wideload, Industrial Toys and Gunslinger Studios and have built many, many games. Some alone and some with 100+ team members. Some, like Halo, have been very successful. Some others, not as much. I learned a lot the hard way – especially the importance of persistence. I am always learning.I’ve been an exec/manager at Disney and Microsoft; a completely different kind of experience from being an entrepreneur. Corporate life taught me patience. I also learned it’s hard to hustle when you are trying to be patient. I need to hustle.I am on the board of the Tumo Center in Armenia, have invested in a handful of startups and serve as advisor/mentor to a dozen or so entrepreneurs. I quite enjoy helping other people build things too, especially when the lessons I’ve learned are useful to them.I aspire to teach as much as I learn.
