  • Block
    A More Senior Software Engineer
    Block Apr 2022
    Oakland, California, Us
    * Lead for the Scalable QR Onboarding project, in which I led 3 teams, 12 engineers total, in the design and building of a platform for onboarding sellers to new payment methods. By creating a simple platform we were able to onboard 7 new payment methods which is expected to bring Square over $800 million in GPV within the next 2 years. * Led the implementation and release of Cash App Pay in the Web Payments SDK. I wrote the engineering design, worked with the Cash App team on updates to their API, and used the project as a way to train 2 new hires on the team's infrastructure. Within 2 months, we were able to successfully release Cash App Pay to the public, and the two new hires were able to touch every piece of our stack.
  • Block
    Senior Software Engineer
    Block Sep 2019 - Apr 2022
    Oakland, California, Us
Early member of Web Payments Experience team that designed and built a new SDK for taking payments in the browser. * Built the front end utilities, infrastructure, and code patterns to introduce the first payment method into the Web Payments SDK. Work included building out HTTP request and MessageChannel wrappers, implementing unit testing, event logging infrastructure, and the initialization endpoints, in addition to setting up the coding patterns for how payment methods would be built in the future. I later turned these utilities into a shared library which is used across Block for our different web SDKs.* Lead the Metrics Workstream, a set of 3 projects, consisting of 3 engineers and a data scientist, to improve metrics collection and introduce an A/B testing framework for the Web Payments SDK. I wrote the engineering design doc and implemented a custom A/B test framework for the Web Payments SDK, leading the first two A/B tests to reduce address verification rejections for credit card payments.* Optimized unit test bundling and execution, reducing run time for all tests by 60% and memory usage to 1/100th of the previous footprint. The reduction of memory usage eliminated the main cause for random timeouts of tests.* Through code splitting and code reorganization, I cut our minified bundle size down by 40%, while still providing a main bundle which allows for 84% of buyers to complete checkout without downloading additional bundles.
  • Amazon
    Software Development Engineer
    Amazon Nov 2018 - Sep 2019
    Seattle, Wa, Us
    • Performed analysis, wrote proposal for external technologies, and worked onteam of two to re-write the Amazon Music Web Application backend to a Spring/Nodesolution utilizing AWS. Lead deployment of said backend, coordinating with QAon the test plan and plan to ramp up deployments globally.• Implemented Jest within our new backend and auxiliary services, in addition tocreating documentation on how to start testing with Jest. Within a month ofimplementation, two services without test coverage jumped up to 50% branchcoverage.• Reduced secondary load times throughout the Web Player application by implementingcaching in Redux. Within a month, the most common customer complaint ofover 2 years dropped out of the top 10. • After fixing an emergency bug related to Cross Site Scripting, I took the initiative to attend training related to security. I documented the learning from that training and went on to train my team on methods to avoid XSS and CSFR, in addition to working with QA to better test for these cases.
  • Nyansa, Inc (Acquired By Vmware)
    Software Engineer
Nyansa, Inc (Acquired By Vmware) Aug 2017 - Nov 2018
    • Overhauled the Network History page, utilizing D3 to create an interactivetimeline in which performance, incidents, annotations, and baselines can beviewed and filtered. The interface change and data correlation tools led to a 10%increase in page views and a 20% increase on time spent on the page.• Implemented an internal and customer-facing GrahpQL API, allowing for customqueries while significantly reducing the number of endpoints needed for eachrequirement. This API is now being expanded to a full reporting framework.• Created the Health & Remediations page. Utilizing ElasticSearch aggregations, this page provides immediate feedback on filtering of different incidentattributes, allowing users to easily find root causes for issues affecting clients. This is the second most viewed page in our application, and components fromthis page are now being used throughout the application.
  • Kryptoncloud (Acquired By Splunk)
    Software Engineer
Kryptoncloud (Acquired By Splunk) Mar 2017 - Aug 2017
    • Optimized alarm monitoring pages through removal of redundant components, elimination of extraneous watchers, and replacement of inefficient third party libraries, reducing load times by up to 15%, and CPU cycles by close to 40%.• Utilized D3 to create interactive hierarchical tree, allowing user to better explore and compare assets and locations for multiple sites within a single view.• Designed and programmed the layout, components, and API endpoints for sites and assets alarm pages, providing a central location to view actionable metrics and compare similar assets for better troubleshooting.
  • Paramit
    Industrial Engineering Manager
    Paramit Jul 2010 - Sep 2016
    Morgan Hill, California, Us
Lead Industrial and Systems Engineer, Project Manager for Mechanical Process Improvement Strategy Initiative• Managed a cross functional team that completely redesigned the mechanical manufacturing process by creating a system controlled assembly application. The system went through multiple refinements, based on post implementation analysis of production and defect data. Outcomes included increased throughput, reducing per unit assembly times up to 60%, leading to an average labor savings of 300 worker-hours per month. Furthermore, the process curtailed internally reported defects from an initial 15.4 DPMO to a post implementation rate of 1.6 DPMO. • Managed a team of Industrial Engineers, across multiple sites, to implement system wide solutions to the stocking and kitting processes. By developing and implementing a standardized material stocking, consolidation, and tracking processes, we were able to reduce kitting and stocking related labor costs by 28 worker hours/day.• Designed a process specific analysis program, with SQL/VBA, to identify root causes of operational performance gaps and production line shutdowns. Using that data, I programmed and implemented an electronic scheduler to ensure kit production kept proper pace with the assembly lines’ component demands. The average cycle time for kits was reduced by over 10 days per kit, 25% of their aging, while production downtime was reduced by over 10 worker hours/ day. • Managed overhaul of the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process, designing business requirements, developing the interface for custom applications, and creating key performance indicators. Lead the user acceptance test phase, training, and post-implementation auditing. By eliminating repeated and excessive ECO related meetings, we were able to save an average of 15 engineer/program manager hours per day, reducing average ECO cycle time from 6 weeks down to 2.
