I am an Industrial Engineer with a background in the food manufacturing and packaged goods industries. I have forged my skills producing products that include milled parboiled rice, flavored rice, retorted shelf-stable packaging, chicken nuggets, pot pies, roast beef, ham, beef franks, and dry bulk solids. Until recently, I was CVS (Commission, Validate, and Startup) and Continuous Improvement Manager for Mars Food. We successfully implemented $20 Million in capital projects that included several new production lines, new feed systems, and critical infrastructure upgrades. I also helped to drive the improvement of a key production area from 35% to 65% performance in 12 months, while maintaining food safety and quality. I am a hands-on leader that likes to get into the details of the process and find innovative solutions to complex problems. I was able to: • Support the growth of the site by putting a process in place that used reusable bins instead of cardboard shipping cases, resulting in both $500,000 year on year savings. • Updated the batching process of a seasoning premix and double the efficiency of this key-to-growth product. • Build team members careers by mentoring those around me -- Several went on to technician or machine operator roles and will continue to grow. • Prior to Mars, I increased the output of a production line from 4000 bags/shift to over 10,000 while simultaneously decreasing overfill to 0.5%. I have a Masters and Bachelors in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arkansas and recently became certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt from the University of Mississippi. I have recently relocated to Springdale in the center of Northwest Arkansas and am looking for another position in Continuous Improvement or other plant-related position. I can be reached by email (alex-brewer@rocketmail.com) if you would like to discuss how I can fill your current needs.
