Worked in the materials engineering department under Sarah Heilshorn developing degradable bio-inks for 3D printing. • Was responsible for chemical synthesis and design, 3D printer servicing and training, CAD modeling, Cell culture, Protein synthesis and characterization• Developed chemistry allowing for a material to be printed and selectively degraded over a controlled time period allowing for hierarchical structures to be printed• Conducted initial viability tests of fibroblast and endothelial cells before and after printing• Wrote 1/3 of a NSF grant that awarded $ 454,500 to the research group. Primary skills and characterization methods include: Protein purification, TGA, DSC, Rheometry, Quantitative NMR, GPC, and SDS-PAGE

Worked in the chemical engineering department under Michael Gordon developing anti-reflective coatings in collaboration with Army Research Lab and DARPA. • Was responsible for fabrication of masks using Langmuir Blodgett Lithography, characterization of anti-reflective films using FTIR, synthesis of monodisperse silica and polystyrene nanoparticles• Paper published in Journal for vacuum science and technology B describing process behind creating anti reflective coatings on semi-conductor group III-IV substrate materials• Paper published in Optics Express for extending the process to Light Emitting Diodes • Awarded $ 10,000 in funding allocated to continued research on soft lithography methods and application to project • Co-authored patent filed in collaboration with Shuji Nakamura, Daniel Morse and Michael Gordon• Recipient of American Chemical Society Analytical Chemistry Award for high achievement in physical chemistry and promise in research, 1 award given out of a class of 650 students.
