About Alexandra Armor

My name is Alexandra Maxwell Armor and I am a Master's of Education candidate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have been in the School Counseling program for the last year and will graduate with a k-12 School Counseling license at the Advanced Graduate (specialist) level in August of 2016. I have spent the 2015-2016 school year serving the students as the counseling intern at The Hill Center in Durham, NC where I have focused my work on students who have learning disabilities and ADHD. I will complete my internship in mid-June and am actively seeking a school counseling position for the 2016-2017 school year in the triangle area of NC.I am a school counselor with a focus in helping students with learning disabilities and ADHD. From the time I tutored students in the Central Regional Hospital psychiatric ward, to the ADHD studies I ran at the Duke Child and Family Study Center, I have been building experience with students who struggle academically. Currently I am interning in the counseling department at The Hill Center, an independent school that focuses on ensuring academic success for students who need educational accommodations. My work with these students is rooted in the belief that all children have the ability to succeed, no matter their level of need. I employ solution-focused, behavioral, and play therapy approaches with k-12 students to help them accomplish goals from making new friends to getting into their top college.
