    I am the Director of the ACLU of Illinois’ Criminal Legal System and Policing Project. My work focuses on litigation to challenge unjust and discriminatory practices in the criminal legal system, including harmful police practices in Chicago and statewide. I represent plaintiffs challenging the City of Chicago and Chicago Police Department's discriminatory traffic stop practices, which disproportionately burden Black and Latino drivers. I work on the ACLU’s enforcement of a federal consent decree in Illinois v. Chicago, to reform the Chicago Police Department (CPD)’s unconstitutional and discriminatory policing. Previously I worked on the ACLU’s landmark settlement agreement with Chicago about CPD’s Investigatory Stops and Pat Downs (Stop and Frisk). I also have litigated an individual wrongful arrest case against two CPD officers and the City of Chicago, as well as several cases seeking public disclosure of documents from CPD and other City agencies under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
