Fine Art Intern
CurrentThis internship is based in the General Services Administration (GSA)’s Southeast Sunbelt Region, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The Fine Arts Specialist Intern works directly with the Regional Historic Preservation and Fine Arts Officer and other specialists to ensure the accessibility, preservation, and appropriate use of the region’s fine arts collection. The collection of 115 art installations includes murals, sculptures, and other historic artworks located in the region’s 87 historic buildings. The collection includes artwork produced by New Deal programs, as well as earlier and later commissioned public works of art that enhance the architecture of newer Federal buildings. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Work to digitize archival hard-copy files per the existing finding aid-Organize the Fine Art’s collection of physical files and maquettes-Assist with the 2024 biennial Fine Arts inspections-Assist with the management of ongoing Art-in-Architecture projects (new art commissions associated with new construction projects)-Research and develop interpretive information about regional artists and artworks-Document the Region’s artwork (cataloguing and photography)-Work with GSA’s Center for Fine Arts Collections Management Database
