I oversee college and career development programming for scholars from sixth grade through the completion of their post-secondary degree. This includes managing staff, connecting with outside partners, and designing and administering programming.

I am responsible for ensuring the post secondary success of the scholars in our program. This involves designing and implementing college preparatory curriculum, covering ACT/SAT preparation, college selection, the application process, financial aid, and social integration. I also provide or students with intensive, weekly college counseling and guidance throughout their senior year, maintaining detailed records of their progress in our database. In addition, I connect scholars of all ages to enrichment and college preparatory opportunities, bringing in many organizations and college admissions officers throughout the year and building new relationships for my nonprofit. I coordinate and often lead at least six college field trips per year.Finally, I case manage 32 college undergraduates, in order to encourage their continued success. This includes distributing their semesterly scholarships and hosting several smaller gatherings and meetings throughout the year. My cumulative event is organizing a graduation celebration for around 200 students, families, and community members.

In this temporary position, I managed two weeks of a three-week enrichment program for a diverse group of middle-school-aged refugee children who had been in the United States for less than two years. I achieved this by coordinating with our volunteers and workshop teachers and guiding students through the program. In addition, I had the privilege of organizing and leading two educational field trips for children of all ages. I also guided newly arrived families through the kindergarten enrollment process.

• Created and coordinate twice weekly math peer tutoring program for ELL students. • Recruited 20 students (20 percent of ELL population) who attend tutoring regularly. • Recruited and manage 30 peer tutors. • Tracked student grade progress and saw significant improvement.• Coordinated weekly Somali refugee support group. • Coordinated AZELLA testing of 99 ELL students and 170 ELL reclassified students. • Performed twice yearly follow-ups on the 200 students who have tested out of the ELL program and contact their parents when necessary. • Case managed two students through the Intervention Team. • Handled referrals to social services for students.

• Taught technology program for diverse, low-income, female students of color, aged 12 – 17. • Taught GarageBand and iMovie.

• Oversaw community-based recruitment of students, including neighborhood canvassing, hosting open houses and tours and maintaining persistent communication with potential families. • Led four interns and eight part-time staff. • Responsible for the recruitment of 70 new students.• Tracked and reported all data related to recruitment.

• Led students in finding and applying for summer enrichment programs.• Twenty-five total acceptances (30 percent of the school population) • Students received total of $5,000 in program scholarships. • Earned $5,000 through researching and writing SRP Learning Grant. • Planned school book club program and earned $3,000 in funding for it through writing Dollar General Youth Literacy Grant. • Translated written and video materials, as well as communicated with Spanish-speaking parents. • Led two student book clubs, with five students in each group.
