Representing around 250 artists, High Road Touring operates as a boutique, family-owned business, where I was able to take on a variety of roles and responsibilities.My daily tasks included a high volume of administrative work, such as managing 4 company email inboxes related to ticket sales, contracts, and final settlements. I tracked ticket sales for artist tours and shared progress with their managers, issued deal contracts, and reviewed final show settlements. I also carefully documented these details for hundreds of monthly shows in our internal database.In addition to these responsibilities, I also served as receptionist, acting as a client-facing firewall, handling all incoming calls and assisting all in-person visitors to our main Sausalito office. I maintained friendly, professional relationships with artists, managers, promoters, venues, and fellow High Road agents. I answered patron emails and calls, cataloged vendor invoices and bar/restaurant receipts, recorded and updated show information for our phone tree, oversaw lost and found procedure, inventoried and ordered venue supplies, and updated show information in Filemaker Pro. I also supported the facilities manager in larger projects such as revamping the VIP lounge and overhauling unused spaces in the venue.On show days, I shadowed and assisted Production, Front of House operations, and Box Office teams. In the Production department, I watched backstage procedures unfold and offered a helping hand wherever it was welcomed. I received crash courses from stage managers, electricians, sound engineers, and lighting technicians. When show runners were short staffed, I helped fulfill last minute artist requests. Concert Department Manager, Event Promoter, Production ManagerSuperb Productions May 2017 - May 2019Berkeley, Ca, UsSUPERB Productions is UC Berkeley's student-operated organization for providing free entertainment to students. The Concerts division produces 10-15 free concerts per year, attracting anywhere from 200-5000 attendees per event. As a completely student-run operation, we booked and produced shows for high-profile artists such as E-40, JID, Kehlani, Mitski, Big Thief, Rico Nasty, NoName, Girlpool, Porches, Alex G (and many many more!). Our relatively small team of 25-30 student interns executed every step of producing a concert, from initial brainstorming to day-of-show set-up.As a manager, I led this team of interns and oversaw the end to end process of putting on shows. With planning beginning months ahead of a semester, I ensured we were on schedule and under budget. Our base allowance was slim, so we sought out additional partnerships to extend our financial latitude, allowing us to draw from a total amount of $100k/year. I negotiated deal terms with agents and edited performer contracts to comply with strict university regulation, and worked with the university to ensure timely payment of artists and vendors. I liaised with SUPERB's art and marketing departments to ensure effective promotion of our shows.As a production manager, I advanced shows with artist managers and directed day of show logistics, creating hour-by-hour timetables and show notes to harmonize an multitude of factors including intern's class schedules, rental pick-ups, sound engineer arrival, stage set-up, artist transportation, greenroom set-up, sound check, door and show times, and tail lights. Both physically and technically demanding, we also carried out the set up and tear down of stages, sound systems, performance gear, and lighting rigs.I also supervised hiring for our department, fielding hundreds of applications and conducting many hours interviews. I trained and onboarded each new class of hires to help them become the most professional amateur concert promoters around :) -
