My research training is multidisciplinary, drawing knowledge from psychology, neuroscience, and epidemiology. The common link between these disciplines is the focus on stress and healthy aging. I am currently a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU, formerly Ryerson University) and am Director of the Stress and Healthy Aging Research (StAR) Lab. My research program is two pronged: One arm examines bio-psycho-social correlates of cognitive function and well-being in late life and the other examines prevention strategies to enhance cognitive function and well being among older adults. My current research includes:- examining the biological and psychosocial correlates of cognitive function and brain health in community-dwelling older adults.- examining the association between diet and exercise on indices of stress and brain health. - examining the impact of caregiving on indices of wellbeing and the utility of mindfulness meditation.- examining the physiological correlates of stress physiology.
