I worked as a Summer Nurse Extern on a Trauma Burn Stepdown Unit at Central Florida's only Level 1 Trauma Center, Orlando Regional Medical Center. This patient population consisted of critically ill patients with complex needs, including many having severe burns and various traumatic injuries. I had the opportunity to grow my technical and critical thinking skills through direct patient care and didactic classes throughout the program. I developed time management skills, decision-making skills, and gained a deeper understanding of a nurse's role in the healthcare environment. I reinforced my hands-on skills in areas like phlebotomy, venipuncture, catheterization, management of central and peripheral lines, and more. This program greatly advanced my clinical and critical thinking skills and gave me the confidence to work in a hospital environment upon my licensure.

As a nanny and babysitter, I have provided a nurturing and educational environment for children ages 0-14 years. I have worked with children with various physical and intellectual disabilities. I have planned and engaged in daily age-appropriate activities promoting developmental milestones. These experiences have cultivated my interest in pediatrics and neonatal units.
